meets the requirement for a high iron oxide content with fine grain and at a reasonable price.


Iron oxide is used in black washes to prevent penetration and increase stability in sand molds and cores. Preferred products here are:

 


Iron oxides are used to provide color for the manufacture of feeders and cores. Examples of these are:

 


Iron oxide (Fe2O3) undergoes an exothermic reaction with aluminum as an oxidizing agent (aluminothermic or thermite process). This enables the feeder to maintain the necessary temperature.
